Step by step recipe with pictures:

1.In a deep frying pan or Kadhai add ghee (melted) and then add chickpea flour or besan and cook it by stirring continuously on low flame.

2. Make sure to stir continuously otherwise, the chickpea flour or besan will burn. Roast it slowly and patiently and you will get amazing results. So don’t cook on high flame to fasten the process.

3. After a while, the flour will start changing its colour to golden and you will get a little bit of aroma. But it’s not roasted till now you need to keep stirring.

4. Keep roasting on the low flame while stirring constantly.

5. A few minutes later the besan or chickpea flour will start turning golden brownish in colour and it’s aroma will spread in your kitchen and all around the kitchen.

6. And at this phase ghee will start separating then add cardamom powder in it and mix it slowly.

7. Turn off the flame and keep it aside. Meanwhile make sure to keep stirring it to bring down the temperature and the flour doesn’t burn from the bottom.

8. Let the roasted besan cool down completely.

9. When the roasted besan cools down add milk powder and powdered sugar. Combine it well.

10. Then shape it- start by taking a small amount of dough amd shape it into a ball then flatten it up.

11. lastly press with your thumb in the middle of peda and garnish it with some chopped dryfruits.

  • The key to make perfect besan peda is to roast the chickpea flour or besan on low flame by stirring constantly and wait for the result.
  • I have melted the ghee and then measured it in a cup, so please don’t get confused.
  • You can shape it into a ladoo as well.
  • Always let the best mixture cool down before adding sugar, if you add the sugar in the hot besan mixture the sugar will melt and it will create problem in creating peda or ladoo.
  • Store it in an airtight container at room temperature for 7 to 12 days.

How can I fix besan ladoo/peda?

If the besan mixture is not manageable and you are unable to bind it into shape then dry roast the chickpea flour or besan and then add it to besan mixture and mix it gently.

Please don’t rush while dry roasting the besan otherwise you will get raw taste of flour in peda. You can dry roast the besan according to the consistency of you besan mixture.

And you will get the desired consistency and you can then shape it as well.

Why does besan ladoo taste bitter?

You need to use good quality besan to avoid bitter taste, you can use fine or coarse flour too.

And secondly to avoid bitter and raw taste roast the Besan nicely, I don’t know how many time I repeated this thing 😅 but roasting is a crucial part of this recipe.

Instant besan peda recipe with milk powder, this peda is perfect for festivals and special occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup ghee (melted)
  • 1 1/2 cup Besan 
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder 
  • 5 tablespoon milk powder
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a Kadhai add 1/2 cup ghee and 1 1/2 cup Besan or chickpea flour and start roasting it by stirring continuously on low flame.
  2. Stir it until it turn golden brown and the aroma of it spreads all over your kitchen. So please don't rush the process.
  3. It tooked me around 21 to 24 minutes to roast the Besan perfectly, so give it time you will get amazing results.
  4. When it is roasted let it cool down and please make sure to cool it down completely and then add 4 tablespoon milk powder and add 1/2 cup powdered sugar.
  5. Mix it well and you will get the binding consistency.
  6. Shape it into a peda top it up with dryfruit and silver work.
  7. Ready to serve.
